How to Keep Winning
October 30, 2024
As we head into the final months of 2024, I want to encourage you to remain steadfast in your faith in God. In the coming days, we will elect a new president for the United States, and every American citizen should vote. Having the privilege of electing those who represent us is no small matter, and we should vote according to our righteous cause.
I love what David said in I Samuel 17 when his older brother criticized him for coming to the battlefield where Goliath made his relentless threats. He said, “…is there not a cause?” Friend, I assure you that there is a great cause, a righteous cause, in casting your vote this month.
We must continue to do our part in this election by praying, speaking the truth, and voting. As we do, let’s remember what Hebrews 12:2 says, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, for He is the only one who will make good on every promise He has ever made, causing you to win in life.
After I turned my life around more than forty years ago, my heart connected to the truths established in the Word of God concerning the life of faith, and I never looked back. I love what Paul so graciously explained in his letter to the church at Corinth, for this very truth is the key to victory or defeat and success or failure.
II Corinthians 4:13, We having the spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.
THE SPIRIT OF FAITH. So many people refer to faith as a thing, but Paul refers to it as a spirit here. This spirit of faith is the same spirit that Caleb operated in.
Numbers 14:24, But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
Consider this moment in time for Caleb and Joshua. They disagreed with the ENTIRE congregation of Israel. They stood alone and were literally one in a million! While everyone else saw giants and feared for their lives, they rose up, KNOWING they could defeat their enemies because they knew their God, and they had more confidence in what God told them than in what the people surrounding them believed.
Think about Daniel. He, too, was faced with severe opposition, but he had established a relationship with God that he refused to compromise.
Daniel 5:12, Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel…
Caleb had another spirit; Daniel had an excellent spirit, and it’s the same spirit of faith that Paul referred to in 2 Corinthians 4:13 that is available to every believer.
Here in the state of Alabama, there is a team spirit that affects 99% of the people one way or another. Every fall, excitement fills the air for college football season, and you’re either a Roll Tide (University of Alabama) or War Eagle (Auburn University) fan. It seems to affect every decision people make – the clothes they wear, their choice of home decor, the food they eat, the relationships they keep, their weekend obligations, etc. How much more should the spirit of faith that we have affect every decision we make?
Notice the next phrase in 2 Corinthians 4:13, …according as it is written. Herein lies the underpinning to the spirit of faith…what is written. The Word of God is amazing, for it is a living thing and unlike anything else. It is full of life, power, ability, potential, and possibility.
In the gospel of Luke, we find the time that Jesus joined a conversation between two people concerning the crucifixion, and they had no idea that it was Jesus with them. Although Jesus walked with them, ate with them, and spent the day into the evening with them, notice what caused their hearts to burn.
Luke 24:32, And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way and while he opened to us the scriptures?
It wasn’t the physical fellowship of eating, drinking, and travelling with Jesus that caused their hearts to burn; it was His talking and ministry of the Word of God to them that caused their hearts to burn. Why? because the Word is a living entity, unlike anything else in this world.
When what is written becomes more prominent to you than anything else you hear, whether it be from a news media outlet, a highly respected doctor, or a revered family member, you too become a part of, We having the same spirit of faith that Paul referred to.
Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and our ears attentive to His Word. Keep your mouth filled with His promises and singing His praises, inviting His peace and joy to invade every aspect of your life! If you’re interested in winning in life, this is your answer!
Some of our ministry partners who reside overseas are under enemy attack. We have been advised of one location under constant explosive drone strikes. These attacks target schools, hospitals, and private residences. Marksmen are able to shoot down many of these drones during the daylight hours, but they are defenseless at night. We are helping by furnishing them with night vision optics so they can gain the advantage at night. The NVOs cost $3,300 a piece. If you would like to help with this project, you can do so by using the link below. Any amount is helpful and appreciated.
