Jesus and YOU
February 6, 2024
One of the greatest revelations we will ever receive comes when we discover who we are in Christ and the authority that has been bestowed upon us as believers. Never has there been a more critical time in history than now to boldly walk in that authority as God’s sovereign.
When you hear the phrase “God’s sovereignty,” what comes to your mind? For many in the body of Christ, because of how they have been taught, this phrase has become a dodge or excuse for someone attempting to explain the reason for a catastrophic situation. However, if we allow the Word to define sovereignty, we find it is a kingly term. Simply put, a sovereign is someone who rules.
In Ephesians 1, we find a Holy Ghost inspired prayer that places us in our positions as sovereigns in the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 1:19-20, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places;
Being seated at the right hand of the Father is no small position. In fact, other than the very throne of God, it’s the most prominent position of all. This is where Jesus is seated…and you!
Ephesians 1:21-2:1, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. AND YOU…
Friend, Jesus AND YOU have been seated at the right hand of the Father. Everything that was delegated to Jesus has been delegated to you because you are in Him, and you are His body. Every time you see or hear the phrase “right hand” in the Bible, remember who is seated there…Jesus and YOU.
As God’s sovereign, you have been placed in a position of authority far above all principality and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that exists in this world and in the world to come.
Colossians 3:1-3, If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth, For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
The fact that our lives are hidden with Christ in God is nothing short of miraculous. I think sometimes people get the impression that this means we’re hanging together with Christ, or we’re beside Him, or we’re in a locked-arm position with Jesus. But these descriptions pale in comparison to the truth that we are IN HIM.
When we have our mind and attention on the things above, in the heavenlies, we position ourselves for victory at every turn. The quote, “that fellow is so spiritually minded that he’s no earthly good” has been misinterpreted to the place where people think they don’t want to be “too far out there” in the spiritual sense. But actually, you do. You really do. Because the farther out there you are into the spiritual apprehension and revelation, the more danger you are here on the earth to the works of darkness.
Romans 5:17 says, For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. The Amplified translation says …they will reign in life as kings.
A king is a sovereign, so we could say it like this, they will reign in life as sovereigns. God has put you in a place and given you the authority in this place for you to be the sovereign in your life by making use of God’s sovereignty. This is not a pass or an excuse for things going wrong. Rather, it is a means to make things right.
No matter what twists and turns occur in the world this year, you must remember who you are…that your life is hidden with Christ in God. You are in Him, and you have been seated in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father, where all authority resides and extends over the entire universe.
If you keep your attention focused on the truths contained in this letter, you will be like a cat in that you’ll always land on your feet. Something may come along and knock you for flips, but just keep your focus on what Jesus has done and where you’re seated, and you’ll always land on your feet!
