Imagine being described as Jacob was in Genesis 30:43,
And the man increased exceedingly, and had much…
Do you know that God absolutely intended for this to be your story? He doesn’t just want increase for you; He wants you to increase exceedingly!
Jacob experienced this increase EXACTLY the same way you and I are to experience this increase…through the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM.
Galatians 3:13-14 says, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: that the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.
The blessing of Abraham was a living, tangible substance, and it had everything to do with wealth and prosperity.
The Lord has ministered some powerful things to me in recent weeks that I want to share with you in light of this truth regarding the blessing of Abraham.
- The BLESSING is not a concept. It is truly a power, a mantle, and it is quantifiable. In Genesis 27 we find where Jacob went to his father, Isaac, to obtain the blessing before Isaac died. Shortly after, Esau went to Isaac to obtain the same, not knowing that Jacob beat him to it. After it was all said and done, Esau begged his father to somehow bless him, but it didn’t happen because the BLESSING was gone—there was nothing left for Esau after Isaac blessed Jacob.
This BLESSING is still operating today. It is not just an idea; it is working in the lives of those who believe it and put it to use. A few weeks ago, I was ministering for a pastor in a really small town. I had not been there for several years, so when I returned I was amazed to see all that the Lord was doing for him.
This pastor occupies a large place in the small town because of the BLESSING that is on him. The Lord led him to purchase some land that, in the natural, he could not afford. He obeyed the Lord’s instructions, selling off a small portion, which enabled him to pay off the entire purchase, and retaining the prime parcel for his new church building. Another time there was a man in the community who practically gave him an entire motel. It produces more cash for him than it ever did when the previous owner ran it. Why? THE BLESSING!
This BLESSING is a mantle that comes ON us (Galatians 3:13-14), and it is available to those who take it up.
- Attitude is EVERYTHING! Romans 9:13 contains an interesting verse, As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Do you really think that while God loved Jacob, He hated Esau as a person? Of course not! But there is something He did hate, and that was Esau’s attitude toward the BLESSING.
Think about it. When Esau came in from his hunt, he was so hungry that he sold his birthright to his brother. This proves how little value Esau placed on the BLESSING his father walked in. Many people have criticized Jacob because of this incident, claiming that he “stole” the birthright from his brother because right after Isaac bestowed it on him, Jacob ran for his life. But he didn’t steal it; he actually bought the blessing, and it became his and his alone when it came time for Isaac to die.
In contrast to Esau’s attitude, God LOVED Jacob’s attitude toward the blessing. Jacob recognized that there was something available that he wanted but he didn’t have the legal right to it by birth. So, he got creative and found a way to get it. Throughout Jacob’s life, you see where that blessing produced for him time and time again.
We are New Testament believers, and through Jesus, we have the legal right to that very same blessing that Jacob walked in. Are you regarding it with the proper attitude? Do you, like Jacob, value the BLESSING over “stuff?”
When Jacob fled for his life, he left his hometown and all he had ever known—houses, lands, family, everything that was familiar—and all he took with him were the clothes on his back AND THE BLESSING! Clearly, that was all it took for Jacob to move right into the prosperity and abundant living God provided for him.
You may find yourself in a situation today where it feels like you are “losing” because of some adverse circumstance. But recognize that you, as a child of God, are BLESSED with faithful Abraham (Galatians 3:9).
God told Abraham to LIFT UP NOW THINE EYES AND LOOK… When Abraham looked up and got his eyes off of the “stuff” and situation he was in, he was able to see that there was so much more for him than what he had experienced up to that point, and it was all because of the BLESSING
My friend, there is more for you than what you have experienced. Get your eyes off of “stuff” and lift up your eyes to see where the BLESSING will take you. If you want to make the most of this BLESSING that is on you, this attitude will take you there!
