newsletter 2One of the greatest revelations a born-again believer should grab hold of is found in Galatians 3:13-14, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree: that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.

Do you know what the word “redeemed” means? It means purchased or bought back. When Jesus paid the ultimate price hanging on that tree, He personally purchased your redemption so that you could walk in the same blessing as Abraham.

I want you to notice a word in this verse though that is very important: might. The blessing that Abraham walked in is available to every believer, but it will only work for those who allow it to work for them. As for me, I want it working in my life!

I once heard an interesting distinction between a warrior and an ordinary man. A warrior sees EVERYTHING as a challenge; an ordinary man sees everything as either a curse or a blessing. This is so true for countless Christians today. They encounter a situation and immediately respond by calling it either a blessing or a curse.

Romans 8:37 says, Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. That sounds to me like a warrior…someone who encounters a situation and sees it as a challenge or an opportunity!

Too many Christians squabble over the idea that God allows bad things to happen to people. Much more time is wasted asking this one question: why do bad things happen to good people?

Answer: BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A CURSED WORLD! It is as simple as that. Sure, there are things we do that can hinder the blessing from working in our lives, but the root of bad things happening is the fact that we live in a cursed world.

In Luke 13 we read about the woman who had suffered with the spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. How did Jesus respond when he saw her? He called her to Him and healed her! When the religious leaders questioned him for “working on the sabbath”, Jesus responded by calling her who she was—the daughter of Abraham, and declaring that she OUGHT to be free.

Notice that Jesus didn’t question WHY she was bowed over—analyzing what she had done to open the door to the devil. He just saw her in pain and recognized that she was a daughter of Abraham, and that she OUGHT to be healed.

The same thing is true for you and me! We are children of Almighty God, and we OUGHT to be blessed. We OUGHT to be healed. We OUGHT to be living in such a way that the blessing is evident in every area of our lives—finances, family, health, mental soundness, businesses, everything your life consists of.

You may be reading this, thinking,…THAT’S RIGHT! I ought to be blessed, but it does not seem like the BLESSING is working in my life.

Let me give you a couple of things to do in order to get things moving in the right direction.

  1. Quit looking back wondering if and where you “missed” it. Philippians 3:13 contains a key in moving forward! Don’t look back in wonder. When you look back, it makes you want to talk about what happened, and this prevents you from keeping the Word in your mouth and in your heart. It’s the Word in your mouth that makes all the difference in your life. Look ahead EXPECTING the blessing ON you to work FOR you.
  1. REFUSE the victim mentality. The temptation to think “poor ol’ me” comes to everyone. Everyone has been done wrong at some point or another. But REFUSE to take the attitude that you have been done wrong and are a victim. YOU ARE NOT A VICTIM! Because of Jesus, you are a VICTOR! So don’t let the devil talk you out of your rightful place in Jesus—you have been seated in heavenly places.
  1. Protect the BLESSING that is on you. Deuteronomy 8:18 admonishes us to remember the Lord. For it is He who gives us the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant. One of the ways we remember Him is by paying our tithes and giving offerings. There is such honor in this act of obedience, and in so doing, we protect the BLESSING that is upon us.

When we read about Jesus’ ministry through the four gospels, there is a constant in every event that took place…everywhere Jesus went, He set things right, destroying the works of the devil. We too have this same ability because of the BLESSING that is on us. As you approach the month of March 2015, approach it as a warrior! Look at every situation as a challenge or an opportunity, and you will see the BLESSING at work in your life!
