The Thing that Released the Miracle
June 30, 2025
Have you ever wondered who that young boy was—the one in John 6 with five loaves and two fish? What made him step forward when no one else did? What would move someone to hand over his entire lunch to Jesus, surrounded by a crowd of thousands?
To the natural mind, there was nothing safe about that decision. There was no guaranteed lunch elsewhere. It was just a quiet act of fearless giving. Today, I want to share with you another key to receiving supernatural provision for your life.
Last month, we explored how the miracle in John 6 began when the crowd chose to follow Jesus. We saw how vital this first step is in receiving the provision God has designed for our lives. But there’s another powerful element in this story—a part we must not miss. Before the multiplication came, someone gave.
John 6:9-11, “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
And Jesus said, ‘Make the men sit down’…
And Jesus took the loaves; and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.”
That boy didn’t give because he had an abundance—he gave because he trusted. He released all that he had to Jesus, and that small offering became the seed for a supernatural miracle.
Think about it— that one gift, offered fearlessly and freely, met the need of thousands. That’s the power of Kingdom giving. God doesn’t need the masses to participate in order to provide. He just needs one person—a willing giver. He’ll take what’s sown in faith and multiply it beyond what we could imagine.
I remember a time many years ago, while I was still learning these principles of sowing and reaping. I found myself facing a mountain of financial strain. I owed the IRS $500, and I had no idea how to pay it. That may not sound like much to you, but it might as well have been $1,000,000 I owed at that time in my life. There was no way for me to pay it. In fact, all I had was $5 to my name.
My pastor at the time invited me to a meeting in Tennessee that Norvel Hayes was conducting, where Brother Hagin was scheduled to speak. He offered to cover my travel and hotel, and I went, clinging to that $5 to make it last for meals throughout the 3-day trip. No one knew how bad things were for Phyllis and me financially. We hadn’t shared it with anyone, but God knew.
As the offering was received that night, I felt the Lord speak to my heart: “Sow that $5.” It made no natural sense. That was all I had. But I turned to my pastor and said, “Agree with me—I need a return, and I need it fast.” We prayed in faith, and I gave that offering.
The very next day—before I even got home—someone knocked on our door and handed my wife an envelope. They said, “The Lord told us to give you our tax refund check.” And would you believe—it was for $506!
That was God. No one knew our need, but He saw our seed—$500 paid the bill, $5 restored the offering, and $1 reminded us that He always does more than we expect.
This is how God’s increase works. Luke 6:38 gives us a vital key in our receiving where Jesus said, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
That last part is crucial: “with the same measure…”
You and I set the measure. If we give in spoonfuls, we receive in spoonfuls. But when we give with open hearts and open hands, in a spirit of abundance, God matches our measure and multiplies it.
That boy didn’t give a bite—he gave the whole lunch. I didn’t give a portion—I gave all I had. And in both cases, the Lord met the need with increase.
So I’ll say it again: the measure is up to you. Don’t make light of your seed—just give it in faith, knowing the Lord is true to His promise, “…for with the same measure that you give, it will be measured to you again.” Don’t wait for surplus to give—give boldly what you have and watch surplus come.
I believe God is raising up people in this hour who live to give. People who aren’t afraid to trust Him with what’s in their hands. People who understand that their seed is not just provision for their own lives—it’s provision for multitudes. That’s what fearless givers do. They don’t hang onto what they have. They release.
Fearless giving is not a moment—it’s a lifestyle. It’s a mindset. It’s waking up every day and saying, “Lord, I live today to be a channel of your goodness.” And the more you live that way, the more you’ll see the truth of Luke 6:38 come to life—pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Partner, I want to thank you for living that way. Because of your giving, we’re preaching the Word around the world. From the streets of Brazil to churches in Italy, lives are being changed—and you have a part in every single testimony.
And just as God is meeting needs through your seed, I’m believing He is supplying every one of your needs, too. We’re standing in faith with you—for multiplication, breakthrough, and a harvest that overflows.
So don’t back down now. Don’t shrink back. Keep giving fearlessly. Whether your seed is five dollars or five thousand, give it boldly—because God is faithful.
Your seed is precious. Your measure is powerful. And your harvest is coming.
We’re headed to Brazil in September, and we’re excited to take with us what we’ve been busy building for our family in Brazil! We now have a dedicated YouTube channel and Instagram account that are consistently being translated into Portuguese. Thank you for helping us carry this spirit of faith throughout the world!
