Happy New Year from Webb Ministries! With a New Year comes fresh vision, new goals, and clear direction when you’re walking with the Lord. When I was pastoring, it became clear to me that oftentimes people settle for good when they could have God’s best for their lives. I want to encourage you today—that as you approach this New Year—determine to receive God’s BEST for you. Think BIG, dream BIG, and live BIG!
For many years now I have taught from Habakkuk 2:1-2 at the beginning of the year. I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Simply acting upon this Word has changed many lives for the better. Over the years, we have received countless testimonies from people who took a step of faith and wrote down something specific, which at the time looked impossible; however that simple step of faith caused their desire to manifest.
Psalm 37:4-5 says, Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
Do you have desires in your heart? Write them down! Have you dreamed of doing something that hasn’t taken place yet? Write it down! Is there a certain area, neighborhood, or home you imagine yourself to be in? Write it down!
It may feel strange to write down a vision that seems impossible, BUT FAITH IS AN ACT, NOT A FEELING, and the foundation your vision is built upon is the fact that God LOVES YOU, and there is nothing you can do to change or alter His love for you.
My mother had a hallway that ran through the middle of her house, and in that hallway she had pictures of various people, mostly of our family. Every one of those pictures was of someone she loved, those who were important to her. I’d walk past them and see my high school picture, where I looked nerdy and goofy, and my childhood pictures when my hair was buzzed, and I’d think, Oh man, I wish she’d take these pictures down! But you know what? Even though I didn’t like those particular pictures of me, the fact that she had them hanging on her wall gave me an inner security that she loved me unconditionally, and she saw something special and loveable in me.
God wants you to know that your picture is hanging on His wall! He knows you inside and out. You are not lost in a sea of faces in the body-of-Christ picture. He knows your name, He sees your face, He knows where you are, He knows what you’re thinking and feeling, and He knows what is going on in your life.
Love makes ALL the difference, and it is the foundation on which to build your vision. Several years ago Phyllis and I had a dog named Peanut who needed a home. She was a sweet dog, but you could tell she had been abused because she never would let us love on her like we did the other dogs. Every time I would reach my hand out to pet her, she would cower, thinking I was going to hurt her because of her life prior to living with us.
One day I was walking out the front door when Peanut was lying on the porch, I said, “Hello, Peanut,” and I reached out to scratch her behind the ears. As always, she drew back, and I said, “Peanut, I don’t know what else I can do to convince you it’s okay. I wish you’d just go ahead and act like you belong here.”
Child of God, it’s time you act like you belong in God’s presence, because you do! It’s time to think BIG, dream BIG and live BIG! The days of cowering and drawing back must come to an end. God’s best is not barely getting by—physically, financially, or spiritually. God’s best is abundance and the fullness of His blessing manifested in your life.
In 2016, we entered a season of restoration, and I am so thankful for the marvelous restorations we saw take place, but this season isn’t over! In 2017, we will continue to see restoration, and when God restores, it is better than before!
As you write your vision for 2017, do so with boldness and tenacity, firm-footed on your foundation of God’s love for you. Over the course of your life, there will be years that stand out as years that you truly experienced God’s best. Why not let 2017 be that year?
